our paint colors are Sherwin Williams: Austere Grey and Benjamin Moore: Van Courtland Blue.

Well it definitely wasn’t all the dudes in charge. Our office interior was designed by Anne Scott Gates; half of Maison Studios. Henry Schein designed the dental aspects.

We moved to 2505 21st Ave S, 5th Floor in May of 2025. We had been in our Cleghorn location for many years and frankly had outgrown it. We came to a crossroads of either expanding there or moving. Dr. Crafton’s wife was a gracious landlord but ultimately it was time.

We share a parking lot with the vets office next door so both parking lots are available for your use. We do have four reserved spots, two covered in the back and two on the row closest to the alley also in the back. There is handicapped parking available on the front of the building. If you can’t find a spot, call us and we will come down and make something happen! 615-383-0132

YES WE DO! Please take full advantage of it! Dr. Hancock has planted some pretty trees, we have plenty of seating areas and umbrellas. Grab a tea or sparkling water and enjoy the view!

Yes we get this question often and technically yes we can do it. They aren’t standard procedure and we will try to talk you out of it, not because they don’t look awesome but because they can cause real damage long term.

Dental FAQ

What is the difference between DDS and DMD?

There is absolutely zero real-world difference between a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and a DMD (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry or Doctor of Dental Medicine). Same recipes but different labels. Both come from accredited dental schools, both require the exact same curriculum, and both produce fully licensed tooth wizards capable of fixing your mouth. The only reason the letters don’t match? Some universities got a little fancy and said, “You know what? Let’s call it medicine instead of surgery because…why not?” Tradition, vibes, branding; pick your reason. Bottom Line: whether your dentist is a DDS or a DMD. they’re equally qualified to treat you and your smile! Good news, we have both here!

What does that mean?

Endodontics

the practice of dentistry focused on the pulp (the nerves, blood vessels, and soft tissue inside a tooth) and the tissues around the root. Bottom Line: Root canals. We perform these in our office but some are sent to the specialist office.

is the part of dentistry that’s all about straightening things out, literally. It’s a specialty focused on diagnosing, preventing and treating problems with the teeth and jaws line up. In real terms, it covers: crooked teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites, jaw alignment problems, crowding or spacing issues. Bottom Line: it’s the art and science of moving teeth so your smile works and looks amazing.

Bottom Line: it’s the art and science of moving teeth so your smile works and looks amazing.

If you have cosmetic concerns or just crowding that’s preventing you from cleaning your teeth effectively; we can help and love to do it. We proudly offer Clarity Aligners by 3M. Complimentary consultations are always available to see if it’s the right fit for you (pun intended). More complex cases are sent to the specialists office.

is the specialty that focuses on everything supporting your teeth; gums and bone. It deals with gum disease (gingivitis -> periodontitis), gum recession, bone loss around teeth, dental implants, gum grafting and pocket reductions (all the fancy soft-tissue stuff), keeping inflammation under control so your teeth don’t stage a walkout. We work closely with several Periodontists in the area to coordinate treatment when it’s something beyond our scope here. There are many procedures we perform in our office. Bottom Line: gum health and bone health

this is everything from wisdom teeth to jaw reconstruction. It deals with surgery of the mouth, jaw, face and sometimes the neck. There are many procedures that fall into this category that we perform here in our office and many more that we refer to the big dogs.

the design, engineering, and aesthetics department of dentistry. Think restoring or replacing teeth when you need something more custom, complex or fabulous than a basic filling. These are all things we do here regularly and love to do it! Crowns & Bridges, Veneers, Dentures (regular, partial, implant supported ones-all of it), complex restorations when multiple teeth are missing or damaged, smile design and cosmetic work, restoring implants with crowns or full arches (like all-on-x or all-on-4), fixing bite issues that require precision and planning. This is where we take you from “oh no, to hello!”

while this is not a formal specialty it is definitely in a category of its own. It’s the art of taking perfectly functional smiles to make them TV-commercial gorgeous. Think whitening (in office Zoom! and take home trays) veneers, bonding, contouring and reshaping teeth, cosmetic crowns, smile design and full aesthetic makeovers. You can come in for a complimentary consultation to talk about your goals. Not to toot our own horn (toot, toot) but all three of our doctors have a keen eye for cosmetics and perfection. Taking into account all the factors that matter when making big or small decisions to change your appearance. They are very conservative but know how to take you to the next level, naturally!

this is the calm-the-nerves, keep-you-comfortable side of dentistry. We are devoted to making sure patients feel safe, relaxed and pain free during and after dental procedures. Whether that’s holding your hand or having our good friends from NOBA come in and everything in between. Dr. Hancock has had extensive training, post-education training and yearly training in the field of anesthesia. He is also a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. We offer nitrous oxide aka laughing gas, oral sedation which is a prescription taken orally that is typically co-administered with nitrous oxide, IV sedation or twilight sedation; all of which Dr. Hancock can perform. If you require general anesthesia, whether for anxiety, PTSD or you or a loved one has special or limited needs this might be the answer. It is also a great tool for children who need extensive work and it’s best to get it done in one sitting in a safe and controlled environment. When NOBA comes in you have two highly trained doctors on board; one being an anesthesiologist as well as an RN or CRNA. If you have question about any of the levels of sedation we offer and what might work for you, give us a call or shoot an email to office@jerryhancockdmd.com

Nashville is a medical mecca with some of the best in the industry right here in music city. We have great relationships with many (after a practice being around since 1985 that tends to happen) and can typically work our magic for established patients to be seen, in a very timely manner.

Preferred Products by our doctors and staff

Electric Brushes

They are superior to manual and it’s really a preference on the head as to which you choose. The two that we love most are the Philips Diamond Clean and Oral-B iO Series 9. Philips head is more of a traditional oval shape and Oral-B is round. There are many great options out there but these are our favorites!

one of the best tools you can add to your oral health care regimen. We do prefer the name brand and not just because our longtime hygienist Diana is their rep for middle Tennessee (shameless plug). They are just better! They have several options but our preferred models are the Aquarius (this is a larger unit you need a little space for and the water reservoir holds enough to do your entire mouth) and the Cordless Advanced (this can be used in the shower, which makes less of a mess but has to be refilled about half way through your session, also great for travel.)
